This paper reviews key variables in a study in progress. The study considers the
psychological adjustment of spinal cord injured people. It involves patients with paraplegia and partial tetraplegia who, following residential rehabilitation, are out- patients at the Austin and Repatriation Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Horse riding is used as the intervention. It is expected that the study will continue over the next 3 years. The results relating to each variable and the patterns of variables will be reported and discussed in the light of the work that has gone before.
